The OMEGA Genève Dynamic 166.039 is one of the most distinctive OMEGA designs of the late 1960s, combining an unconventional elliptical case with the robust automatic engineering of the Calibre 565. The reference was introduced around 1968–1969 and formed part of OMEGA's first-generation Dynamic collection, created around an ergonomic approach to case and bracelet design. Documented examples of the 166.039 date from 1968 and 1969.
The stainless steel monocoque-style case measures approximately 41mm across and 36mm vertically, giving the watch considerable wrist presence despite its vintage proportions. Its integrated bracelet system is an important part of the Dynamic design, allowing compatible straps and bracelets to be secured to the case using a retaining ring.
Inside is OMEGA's Calibre 565, a 24-jewel automatic movement operating at 19,800 vibrations per hour. The movement incorporates centre seconds, a date display and OMEGA's distinctive quick-set date mechanism, operated by pulling the crown to its extended position.
